I have been doing this for over 35 years now. Pinstriping isn't just a job for me it is a way of life and if you have spent any time in the lowrider scene here in Phoenix you know exactly what I am talking about. It is about the details and the time you put into the chrome and the paint and making sure everything looks just right before you hit the cruise. That is why I started my own lowrider clothing brand because I saw too many people wearing shirts that didn't have any soul to them. They were just generic designs made by someone who has never even held a pinstriping brush or felt the weight of a gold leaf sheet.

When you are looking for Chicano car culture apparel you want something that actually represents the culture and the craftsmanship that goes into these cars. My shirts like the Cadi Daddy and the Taildragger aren't just pictures I found online they are based on the actual lines I have painted on hoods and trunks for decades. I spend a lot of my time bent over a fender or a tank making sure the lines are straight and the colors pop. People always ask me why I still do it by hand when there are stickers and wraps out there but they just don't get it. Hand-painted art has a feel to it that you can't replicate with a machine and that is the same feeling I put into my garage lifestyle clothing. It is funny how much your gear matters when you are hanging out at the shop or going to a show. You want to look good but you also want to show that you know the difference between something mass-produced and something authentic. That is why I focus so much on the art. Take the Cadi Daddy tee for example. That design is a classic and it really captures that smooth Cadillac vibe that is so big in our community. I painted those lines myself and then we put them on the shirt so you get that authentic pinstripe look without having to paint your own chest. It is one of my favorite pieces because it just screams Phoenix car culture.

I have worked on everything from motorcycles to golf carts and even daily drivers but there is something special about a lowrider. The way the light hits the gold leaf and the way the pinstripes follow the curves of the body is just art in motion. I try to bring that same energy to all of my Chicano car culture apparel. 35 Years of Lines and Letters

I started pinstriping back in the day because I loved the way a few simple lines could completely change how a car looked. Over the last 35 years I have seen styles come and go but the demand for real hand-painted art has never gone away. It is a tradition that we have to keep alive and that is a big part of why I do what I do with my garage lifestyle clothing line. I want to make sure that the next generation of builders and enthusiasts has access to gear that actually means something.

There are a lot of big companies trying to sell "car culture" stuff these days but most of them have never even seen a pinstriping brush. They just use computer programs to make things that look "close enough" but if you have an eye for it you can tell the difference. Authentic art has imperfections and a flow that a computer just can't do. That is the soul of a lowrider clothing brand. It is about the human touch.

I make sure that everything I put out under the Tony's Pinstriping name is something I would wear myself. I use high-quality materials because I know how it is in the shop, you need stuff that can handle a little grease and a lot of washes. These aren't just shirts for looking at they are shirts for living in. That is what garage lifestyle clothing is all about.
