The Ultimate Guide to The Brush & The Blade: Everything You Need to Know About Our Weekly Art & Gear Spotlights
Welcome
Hey there, thanks for stopping by my site and checking out what I do. My name is Tony Perez and I’ve been pinstriping here in the Phoenix Metro area for over 35 years now which is a long time to spend with a brush in your hand but I love every second of it. If you need to get a hold of me for a project or if you have questions about the gear you can call or text me at 602-397-7134 or shoot me an email at tony@astripe.com and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. I’m usually out in the garage or on the road doing mobile pinstriping for folks around Glendale, Phoenix, and the rest of the valley so if I don't answer right away just leave a message.
I wanted to start this "The Brush & The Blade" weekly spotlight to give you a better look at what goes on behind the scenes at Tony’s Pinstriping. It’s not just about the paint on the cars although that’s a huge part of it but it’s also about the lifestyle and the gear that goes along with it. I’ve been working on a clothing line that features my custom art because I know a lot of you guys love the look of a clean pinstripe design even if you aren't ready to put one on your hood just yet. This guide is going to walk you through what to expect from these weekly updates and how you can get your hands on some of this custom artwork for yourself.
The Man Behind The Brush
I’ve been doing this since I was a kid basically and over the last three and a half decades I’ve seen a lot of trends come and go in the car world but hand-painted pinstriping is something that never goes out of style. It’s a craft that takes a lot of patience and a steady hand which is why I call it "The Brush" part of our title. When I’m working on a car or a motorcycle I’m using traditional 1-Shot paints and sword brushes to pull those long, thin lines that give a ride its personality. There’s something special about doing it by hand that a machine or a vinyl sticker just can’t copy and I think that’s why my customers keep coming back to me here in Phoenix.
Whether you have a classic hot rod, a lowrider, a daily driver, or even a golf cart that needs some flair I can handle it. I’ve done everything from simple accent lines to full-blown intricate designs with gold leaf and lettering. My goal is always to make your vehicle stand out in a crowd and show off your own personal style through my art. You can see a lot of my recent work on my social media pages like Facebook at tony.pinstriping or over on Instagram at tonyspinstriping where I post photos of whatever is on my easel or in the shop that day.

What Is "The Brush & The Blade"?
You might be wondering what the name is all about and it’s pretty simple really. "The Brush" represents the hand-painted artistry that I’ve dedicated my life to, the actual pinstriping, the lettering, and the custom murals. "The Blade" refers to the sharp, clean edges of the designs and the gear that comes out of my shop like the custom apparel and lifestyle items. Every week I’m going to be highlighting one piece of art (The Brush) and one piece of gear (The Blade) to show you how they work together.
I want to show you the "man behind the brush" because when you buy a shirt from astripe.com you aren't just buying a piece of clothing from a big factory you’re buying a design that I hand-painted myself right here in Arizona. It’s about the garage lifestyle and the pride of ownership that comes with having something unique. I treat my apparel line with the same level of craftsmanship as I do a $100,000 show car because I want you to be proud to wear it.
Spotlight: The "Who’s Your Daddy" Tee
For our first gear spotlight I want to talk about one of my personal favorites which is the "Who's Your Daddy" Pinstriper T-Shirt. This design really captures that retro mechanic and motorcycle vibe that I love so much. It features a cool skull and wrench motif with some of my signature pinstriping work around it to give it that authentic custom shop look.

This shirt is perfect for when you’re out at a car show or just hanging out in the garage working on your own project. It’s priced at $41.99 and you can find it right now at astripe.com. I use high-quality materials so these shirts hold up well even if you’re getting them a little greasy under the hood. It’s a great way to support a local Phoenix artist and look good doing it. I’ve had guys tell me they get more questions about this shirt than they do about their car sometimes which is a pretty big compliment if you ask me.
Spotlight: The "Cadi Daddy" Tee
Next up in the gear category is the "Cadi Daddy" Retro Skull Pinstriping & Classic Car Tee. If you are into the lowrider scene or you just love a classic Cadillac you’re going to want this one in your closet. I designed this with the classic "Cadi" lines in mind and added some of my favorite skull art and symmetrical pinstriping to tie it all together.

The "Cadi Daddy" design is actually part of a larger lifestyle line I’m building so you can even find this artwork on items like sneakers and mugs if you really want to deck out your life in custom pinstripe art. You can grab the shirt over at astripe.com for $41.99 as well. Like all my gear it’s inspired by the actual work I do on cars every day here in the Phoenix metro area. I put a lot of heart into these designs so they aren't just generic graphics they are real pieces of automotive art.
Pinstriping Services in Phoenix
While the gear is great my bread and butter is still the hand-painted work. I’ve been serving the Phoenix community for a long time and I’ve worked on just about everything with wheels. My process is very personal because I want to make sure the design I paint matches what you have in your head. We’ll talk about colors, placement, and the overall "vibe" of the car before I ever touch a brush to the paint.
I offer a few main services that you should know about:
- Custom Pinstriping: The classic thin lines that accent the body of your car or bike.
- Gold Leaf & Silver Leaf: If you want that high-end show look I can lay down real gold or silver leaf with hand-painted outlines.
- Hand Lettering: Names, shop logos, or numbers painted by hand just like the old days.
- Southwest Art: Living in Phoenix I do a lot of desert-inspired murals and accents that look great on trucks and motorcycles.
I do have a shop in Glendale but I also offer mobile service for certain jobs which makes it real easy for you because I can come right to your garage or place of business. If you are in Phoenix, Glendale, Scottsdale, or anywhere in the valley just give me a shout and we can figure out the best way to get your ride looking sharp. My phone number is 602-397-7134 so don't be shy about calling to get a quote.

Why Experience Matters
When you’ve been doing this for over 35 years like I have you learn a lot of tricks that the younger guys might not know yet. I know how different paints react to different surfaces and how to make sure a design lasts for years even in the harsh Arizona sun. I only use the best materials like 1-Shot enamel because I want the results to be professional and long-lasting. When you hire me you aren't just paying for the paint you’re paying for the decades of practice that go into every single line I pull.
I’m really proud of the reputation I’ve built here in the Phoenix custom car community and I’m thankful for every customer who has trusted me with their ride over the years. This business is my life and I think that shows in the quality of the work I produce whether it’s a pinstripe on a fender or a graphic on a t-shirt.
