Why Our Gear Hits Different

Welcome
Thanks for stopping by my blog. If you need to reach me about a pinstriping job or a gear order you can call or text me at (602) 397.7134 or shoot an email to Tony@astripe.com. I’m located in the area of 75th Ave and Union Hills in Phoenix and I do mobile work too if that’s easier for you.

When you go to a big store or a mall you see plenty of "car shirts" on the racks. They usually have some generic drawing of a car that doesn’t exist or a "vintage" logo for a company that hasn’t been around since the 40s. It looks okay but it doesn’t have any soul. It’s just a piece of fabric made by someone who probably doesn't know a carburetor from a catalytic converter.

I get asked a lot why people should buy a shirt from me instead of just grabbing a cheap one at a big-box store. The truth is that my gear hits different because it isn't just "clothing." It’s a piece of the 35 years I’ve spent with a brush in my hand.

Authenticity You Can’t Fake

I’ve been pinstriping since 1987. That’s nearly four decades of "running lines" on everything from high-end show cars and motorcycles to daily drivers and even the occasional golf cart. When you see a design on a Tony’s Pinstriping shirt, you aren't looking at stock art from a computer program. You’re looking at a design that started out as actual paint on a surface.

Most custom car t shirts today are designed by graphic artists who are great at Photoshop but have never felt the pull of a Mack brush on a freshly polished hood. I do things differently. I paint my designs first: usually on glass or a metal panel: using the same techniques I use for my custom automotive pinstriping services. Once the lines are symmetrical and the scroll work is just right, I convert that hand-painted art into the graphics you see on our apparel.

When you wear the Cadi Daddy Vintage Lowrider Tee, you’re wearing the same artistry that people pay me to put on their classic Cadillacs. That’s the difference between a "car shirt" and an automotive lifestyle brand.

A Local Phoenix Garage Lifestyle

My gear is a reflection of the culture here in the Phoenix Metro Area. If you spend any time around 75th Ave and Union Hills, you know that the car scene here is something special. We’ve got a mix of heavy-hitting hot rods, pristine lowriders, and the kind of custom culture that only exists in the Southwest.

I built this as a lowrider clothing brand because that’s the community I live in. I understand the "Chicano style" large prints and the importance of having the right pinstriping accents. Whether it’s our Chrome Flying Eyeball Tee or a Square Body C-10 shirt, these designs are for people who actually go to the shows, go to the cruises, and spend their weekends under a hood.

It isn't just about looking cool: it’s about representing where you’re from and what you value. My hot rod apparel is made for the guy who has grease under his fingernails and appreciates a line that was drawn by a human hand, not a computer algorithm.

Support the Craftsman Directly

When you buy from a massive retailer, your money goes into a corporate machine. When you buy a shirt from me, you are supporting a local craftsman directly. You’re helping me keep the lights on in the shop and allowing me to keep the tradition of hand-painted pinstriping alive.

I handle my own pricing and my own customer service. If you have a question about a shirt or you want to see if I can do a custom pinstripe job on your motorcycle tank to match the design on your hoodie, you can just call me. You’re dealing with the guy who actually did the work. That level of personal connection is what makes Tony's Pinstriping a true community brand.

Unique Designs with Southwest Soul

We don't do "generic" here. My work is heavily inspired by Southwest art and the classic "Kustom Kulture" of the past. You won't find the Who’s Your Daddy Skull Wrench Tee anywhere else because it’s a unique piece of art I created in my shop.

We offer a variety of gear including:

Everything I make is designed to be as durable and high-quality as the paint I use on a Harley Davidson tank. I believe in fair pricing for a quality job whether it’s a five-minute conversation about a shirt or a five-hour job on a classic '55 Chevy.

The Bottom Line

At the end of the day my gear hits different because it’s a real part of the automotive culture. It isn't a costume and it isn't a trend. It’s 35 years of experience, a lot of late nights in the garage, and a deep love for the art of the line.

If you want to carry the custom culture with you then check out the shop or come see me in Phoenix. I’m always happy to talk shop, look at your ride, and help you find the right design that fits your personality.
